eModel Magazine Interviews Star Walker Creator and Writer G.K. Holland
By Eric Walker
Star Walker is not just another Star Wars, Star Trek, or Star Gate. Star Walker is that and much more and will not only excite the Sci-fi and action adventure fans, but the general public as well. What makes Star Walker so much better how the stories tie events in human history like an anchor or subplot.
In July of 2006, Team Star Walker, as they call themselves, began producing Radio Drama Previews of the Star Walker Universe. The reason why they are doing this is two fold. Number one is to give audiences a preview of the massive Star Walker timeline that stretches over 12 millenniums. Second, is they can be heard by going to The Star Walkers website.
You see the whole problem some people have with Science Fiction is the stories in general are so far removed from everything we know and accept, that it makes it hard for some to get into the story line because they believe it is not real. Not anymore, as Star Walker puts our own History into the narrative, making it that much more ‘real world’ and something we can all relate to.
A recent Radio Episode featured the landing on the moon with Neil Armstrong, and future episodes will cover other historic events ranging from John F. Kennedy, FDR, Hitler, the Wild West, and many other high key points in time.
eModel Magazine.com had a chance to sit down and interview the writer and creator of Star Walker, G.K. Holland.
Q: How did you come up with an idea like Star Walker and is it based in part on any person living or dead?
Seven is the number of completion, so let me summarize it with seven key words: divine intervention, inspiration, the Old Testament, and intense research. By divine intervention I’m referring to the sovereign miraculous confirmation of one’s purpose through the gift of prophecy, and the empirical knowledge that comes from studying the original biblical scriptures (Hebrew & Greek). The scriptures are filled with oceans of inspiring content with deep places that inhabit incredible secrets that are there for us to discover and learn from. I also did a tremendous amount of research on , space exploration, archeology, time travel, actually a wide range of things. So Star Walker is a kind of culmination of numerous things I have been researching and putting together for quite some time. As a writer and film maker it is definitely my magnum opus. In addition to all of that, one of the main characters Eric Dane, is loosely based on actor Eric Walker (The Ewok Adventure, Battle for Endor). I began writing what I thought would just be a short novel, dedicated to Eric and his wife. It was a wedding gift in fact. But God and destiny had much bigger plans for Star Walker. Over the last four and-a-half years, it has blossomed into a massive project. The truth is its just getting started and that’s a bit scary. Sometimes it is all just a bit overwhelming! But Star Walker is an assignment, if you will. And I, we, WILL finish it!
Q: What is the basic story line of Star Walker?
I’ll give you a simple TV Guide line like description, “Star Walker is about ordinary people who have been pre-ordained by God to do incredibly extra-ordinary things that will profoundly affect the world and its spiritual consciousness as we know it. When they answer the call that destiny calls them to, their individual spiritual gifts are awakened and allowed to flourish in spite of the awesome power of evil that has been positioned against them.”
In the Star Walker Time Line from the 1920’s, Professor Henry Dane (great grandfather to the character Eric Dane), is an archeologist with applied knowledge in Egyptology, physics, and theology, while he’s on a special expedition in Northern Africa he discovers an ancient artifact that turns out to be an advance navigational device with spiritual properties. The Professor has contemporaries such as Albert Einstein and has had his own theories called, ‘The Veil Theory’ published dealing with the space time continuum and the three-dimensional world we live in on earth. In fact the character Eric Dane is introduced in the first two Star Walker Radio Preview Episodes.
Most people will never believe it, but quite a bit of Star Walker has literally came to me in dreams and I have experienced quite a few visions regarding Star Walker which have been manifested right before my eyes. To many people this will of course sound way out, but I know what I’ve seen and experienced and continue to experience with Star Walker. It’s been an incredibly powerful blessing. And I’m honored to share it with all of Team Star Walker, Eric, Wiley, Marilyn, Nikki, Jim, Randi, Vernon, Gary, Robert, Courtney, Sascha, Tatiana, Yvonne and so many others on the team. I could not do this without them. I love you guys.
Q: What makes Star Walker different then any other Sci-Fi movie franchise like Star Wars or Star Trek?
Well a lot of people inevitably compare it to Star Wars because of the name of course. But Star Wars deals with a world from a long time ago, whereas Star Walker takes place in the past, present and future. Star Wars rolls out episodes that take place far away, whereas Star Walker is about worlds just a dimension away, and everyday life as we know it in the here and now. And Star Trek deals with earth as it has advanced in the future. Star Walker deals with the future as well but it is also inspired by the ancient Biblical scriptures and actual human history.
Star Walker is also different from other sci-fi projects or action adventure stories because it is about the spiritual warfare that wages behind a hidden veil. It will bring those battles right in your face in ways that will captivate, motivate, exhilarate, empower, entertain, and scare the heck right out of you [laughing]. For example, Sandow 3 is a very scary character. He is no doubt, a very, very nasty fellow [he laughs]. At the end of the short promo film which will soon be airing on the Star Walker website at thestarwalkers.com, he has some definite things to say which are quite evil in origin. Sandow 3 is even introduced in the 3rd adventure of the Star Walker Radio Preview Episodes. Some of these radio episodes are now archived on the Star Walker website at www.thestarwalkes.com , on the audio page. And if you join as a web site member you will soon be able to download the unedited versions!
Q: What are Ken Ju Kai?
The Ken Ju Kai are going to be a nice surprise for people, so I don’t want to give too much about them away. However, I will tell you that they look human, but they’re actually not human at all. And they’re not robots or AI either (Artificial Intelligence). Where they come from, their martial art movement is manifested on a spiritual level. And so that allows for some very exciting and outrageous things to happen visually as well as physically. I can also tell you that the training of the Ken Ju Kai is based on scientific athletic research akin to human athletics, practical application and their spiritual powers. So the Ken Ju Kai training is actually based on something very real! This all makes them some very awesome fighters and warriors. Also, the Star Walkers have to become Ken Ju Kai if they are to survive all that they have to go through, especially in the spiritual realm. The Ken Ju Kai come from the spiritual realm train the various Star Walkers from around the world.
The Star Walkers are some incredibly awesome individuals who are well trained in the diverse fighting arts of the Ken Ju Kai (TeeJ Enuk Od). Within the world of Star Walker the skills of the Ken Ju Kai are impossible to use unless, one has achieved an advanced stage of spiritual awareness and development. Even if pressed upon, a Star Walker would rather walk away from you than fight or kill you, unless you are the enemy, in which case then God help you, because then baby it’s going to be on! Star Walker is very action-packed with many exciting and unique encounters between good and evil that do not involve verbal negotiating skills [he laughs again]. So the Ken Ju Kai are a very potent element of Star Walker!
Q: What are the names of some of the planets and main species in Star Walker?
Well the universe of Star Walker is very massive. There are literally hundreds of planets and moons. For example in the second Star Walker Radio Episode called, The Ken Ju Kai Run, we find Star Walker Eric Dane engaged in a training exercise on a strange world in another dimension called Viron 3, in a hostile place called the Black Forest. In radio episode VI we hear an important gathering of the Ken Ju Kai Council which takes place in a sacred temple on a moon called Reeneepu. These two places are basically in the same planetary system. But there are many other places, like the domed city called EnGedi which is a thriving metropolis on the planet Daybaron. There are other territories on other moons and planets, in other solar systems occupied by the bad guys of Star Walker. There are trade routes frequented by a group called High Crimers, there are desolate spooky places, big grand beautiful places, and there are planets with species with advanced technology. Some of them are friendly, but many are not. Some of these places are Ken Ju Kai strong holds, and some are strong holds of the enemy called, The Dark Legion of Dominion, a great evil who actually already have a strong presence on earth. Some of these evil species are heard in part 3 of episode VI as they enter the realm of earth, in search of Star Walker Eric Dane and his mentor, Star Walker and 7th rank Ken Ju Kai Malachi Oman. These evil entities do find them in the Egyptian desert and a great chase ensues.
Some of the species are called the Dret, the Kiplarian, there is the Cryoon, there is what is known as Demon Drones, there are the Trurillian shape shifters (heard battling Star Walker Timothy Seranti in radio episode V part 2, Mothra rats, and even the familiar Greys who have been identified in hundreds of UFO abductions reported world wide. There are many more species, too many to list here. But the variety of species make for a very colorful world of good, evil, strange, scary species and creatures.
Q: When can we expect the first Star Walker Novel to come out?
I would say a realistic time frame would be later this year or definitely next year. The first novel will only cover a small portion of the overall Star Walker time line. And will deal with the adventures of the first few Star Walker novels, Eric Dane in the 1920’s, 30’s and 40’s. You will be able to watch the movie which will inevitably be produced, and get a whole different aspect of Star Walker. Whereas with the books, other key details will be revealed that weren’t covered in the movie.
Q: What can we expect to see in the movies, a television show, or video game and when will they be released?
What people have to understand is that, Star Walker is built on a pre-emptive promotional strategy. In the Star Walker story there are some very interesting and intriguing things that happen in Africa in the late 1800’s involving an African woman. This woman is destined to become a slave in America and as it turns out she becomes a key element in the Star Walker Time Line. And then mysterious events happen on the Kilimanjaro mountain in 1921 that I will definitely include in the script version (movie). Some other key locations which will be in the film are London, Spain, Paris France, Jerusalem, other parts of the Middle East, the Mediterranean Sea, New York, San Francisco, Roswell New Mexico, the ancient Teotihuacán ruins in Mexico, the Sea of Tranquility on the moon, Cairo and the Great Pyramids of Egypt, just to name a few. Not to mention the exotic worlds and moons presented in the other dimension not known outside of this dimension of earth as we know it today.
The Web Series will cover an entirely different aspect of Star Walker, as will the eventual TV series and the Video Game. This is possible because the story covers many centuries and other dimensions. All of these different incarnations of Star Walker will support each other. It will all fit nicely together and make sense.
Star Walker is a grass roots kind of project, and there is a very real fan base and community which continues to grow. What we are all seeing now in the form of a radio serial is only the beginning.
Q: What is coming up next for Star Walker?
Right now we are very busy putting together more content for both the original site, and also the soon to be launched ‘members area’. In addition to that we are putting
together additional future ‘listening events’, and also a live stage presentation of Star Walker. The first two listening or ‘mind movie’ events were held at the Hilton Hotel in Woodland Hills and at the Universal Hilton respectively. But we are now raising that whole thing to another level and coordinating them to take place in different cities all across the U.S. Also the radio episodes will continue to air, with a radio spin off called: Star Walker: D9 now in development. I’ll continue to complete the first Star Walker novel and write more insightful Star Walker content for our upcoming ‘members area’. By the time you read this, the blogs and forum pages will be active. They’ll be T-shirt, hat and other items sold at various conventions. There will soon be a monthly newsletter. We are also putting together a Star Walker CD. This CD will be very entertaining and unique in that it will have some of the best radio episodes, excerpts from the actual radio interviews we’ve done on the project, many of them with several celebrity actors, and this CD will also include original music inspired by the story, characters and places of the Star Walker Universe. And then there is a separate Christmas CD we are putting together featuring an entirely new and unheard one hour radio drama called, Star Walker: The Sons of Thunder’. There really is an incredible amount to do because the project is so immense. But we are Team Star Walker, and we are thoroughly excited and up for the challenge. There will be a lot of cool Star Walker items and products that will be coming out in the near future that we are not quite ready to reveal just yet. But remember that name, Star Walker. It IS coming, and in a big way. It is going to totally blow your mind. Mark my words!
Thanks for the interview and scoup G.K. We will check back with you from time to time to get updates on the Star Walker Universe!
Here is what a prominent Star Wars Writer in Europe is already saying about Star Walker from around the world:
“Is it just another new movie series following the fame and success of classics like Star Trek or Star Wars? Or will it be just another series of books like Harry Potter or The Lord of the Rings? Will it just jump on the band wagon along with successful series like Stargate? Audiences have seen so many releases that a new project can hardly top the already seen releases. Yet, Star Walker promises to be a brand new franchise in so many different ways. Star Walker promises to be an action-packed adventure spectacle with lots of state-of-the-art special effects, exciting martial arts, explosive action, and intriguing story lines.” -- Marco Froemter, Senior Writer & Editor of Star Wars Europe Magazine and Feature Writer for Indiana Jones.com
